Ever seen glass that glows? Uranium glass is a special type of glass that glows under a black light. This glowing is caused by uranium oxide in the glass that was added to the mix for colour before melting. Most uranium glass pieces leach out very little radioactivity, so they are safe to be around. Uranium glass production was stopped in 1943 due to regulations on uranium, but began again in 1958 using depleted uranium instead of the natural radioactive uranium. Check out some uranium glass in our nest online auction. Link is in the bio.
